Layers and Layers

Hi everyone,
What a beautiful sunny day here in California.  I have the windows open, the sky is blue and the neighborhood is full of bike riding, ball playing and dog walking kids.  Life is good! So today lets talk about layering and paper piecing.  Let's take a look at some of the details of the card I made using this little gem from Scrappers Delights. You can get her here. Her name is Sakura.

Now look at this sweethearts hair. I printed out five copies of her and colored in different parts with my Copic Markers, Spica pens, and glaze pen.
Her pony tails have three layers, the top part of her head has four layers, even her shoes have two layers.  Each one I cut out by hand and using Helmar's Liquid Scrapdots elevated each layer to give her some dimension.
If you're doing paper piecing make sure you use the ink to color in the edges of the paper so that you don't have white lines showing through.

Ok, so now that we talked about paper piecing, lets talk about layering.  I used brown card stock and layered it with a book page patterned paper. Then I took a piece of card stock with holes punched into it and actually cross stitched it with brown floss.  Then I added the crochet flower swag and our little Sakura.
I used Helmar 450 Quick dry on the flowers because it dries fast and clear.  I used Helmar's Liquid Scrap Dots to elevate the digital stamp and the Thank You tag.  I used my Spellbinder's die to make the tag.

Now lets look at the whole thing.

I colored her to match one of my daughter Siena's outfits that she wore a lot when she was about 2 1/2.

Please leave a comment and check us out over at Scrappers Delights.

Cheers,
Laurie
