What do you do when its too hot to go outside?

Hey Peeps!  Its summer time over here in Sunny California.  During the summer when it too hot to go outside (108 degrees), I like to find the coolest place in the house and just play with my crafting supplies.  This week I decided to dig out my colored pencils. I like using these on intricate images because I can keep them very sharp.  I used this border from the Scrappers Delights Borders and Corners  set. If you haven't checked out this set, you're missing out, Janice has created a very versatile and oh so useful.  This set is going into my Go To file!

As you can see on this 5 1/4" by 6" image the vines and leaves are very delicate and in many places just ohhh sooo tiny. Using a colored pencil allows you to keep the lead super sharp so you can get into those tiny spots and have the details shine through.  I then colored in the hearts with a glitter pen.  The sentiment was from my standard issue MS Word program (no fancy fonts there) and I used my new glitter tape on the bottom.  The card base was a 6 1/4" by 10 3/4" folded in half. Don't forget to score the fold so that it looks crisp.  Also I made a cute little bow with the washi tape by cutting a 2 1/2 " piece and folding them so that the ends meet in the middle. I then placed with is on the border and added a gem stone to finish the bow off.

Please feel free to comments or ask questions about any of the techniques I have used. And as always I can be reached through my blog at www.lauriescraftingblog.blogspot.com

Guess What? You're 6!

Guess What?  You're 6!

Hi Everyone!  I made this card using the cutest little digi from Scrapper's Delights.  I wanted to do a birthday card for a little girl with non-traditional colors.  I went with the blues and a punch of bright yellow. Above you can see how I matted the blue card stock onto a blue based patterned paper, and then matted that onto a larger piece of the same blue card stock.  I used some felt butterfly ribbon and yellow sticker letters for the wording.  I finished the front with some colorful brads.

Let's look a the inside and meet our cute little girl from Scrapper's Delights!

There she is, popping right out of the card, holding up six fingers! How cute is she.  I printed out two of her one on ultra smooth card stock and then another of the same size on the patterned paper.  I colored her in using a combination of Copic Markers and Prisma Color colored pencils.  Her skirt was cut out of the patterned paper I printed her out on.  I pleated and used my Copic Markers to create shadows on the pleats, further giving her skirt dimension. I used more of the yellow stickers to spell out "You're" and I used a white chipboard number 6 that I painted white and gave it some sparkle with some Stickles. Everything was held together with Helmar's 450 Quick Dry.  If you haven't been over to Scrappers Delights...you must...they have some of the cutest and unique digis that I have seen!
